Those Who Know His Name

Psalm 9:9-10
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Our Refuge

The LORD is a hiding place. He is a refuge, a secret place, a place for the oppressed to run to in times of trouble. Another verse says that God is a very present help in time of need.

What a wonderful promise! It’s a promise that we are never alone in any situation. This verse goes on to say that those who know His name, that is, His nature, will fully trust Him, because they know that He has never forsaken nor abandoned those who seek Him.

Seek Him

How do we seek Him? Well, prayer is, of course, a means of seeking God. But even prayer falls short, when we are unaware of His nature, His desire to bless and help us. We find out about His nature by pondering His promises, which are found in His word.

Find God’s promises that cover your situation. Spend some time thinking about them, and speaking them as truth over your life. Let faith, hope and trust arise in your heart as you embrace His word, and begin to expect things to be the way He has promised.
