The Blessed Man

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
(Psalm 1:1-2 KJV)

The world has many ideas about what it means to be blessed. Some measure it by wealth, success, or popularity. God presents a very different picture. The truly blessed person is the one who delights in the Lord and chooses to walk according to His Word.

Notice that the blessed man is careful about the influences he allows into his life. He does not shape his thinking according to the world's wisdom, but according to God's truth. The voices we listen to eventually shape the direction of our lives.

Instead of finding pleasure in the ways of the world, the blessed man delights in God's Word. He returns to it again and again, allowing it to renew his mind, strengthen his faith, and guide his decisions. The result is a life that is stable, fruitful, and firmly rooted in the Lord.

If you desire God's richest blessing upon your life, make His Word your first priority and daily delight. As you meditate on His Word and ponder His truth and walk according to His ways, you will discover the joy and stability that come from delighting in His Word.
