Confess Him

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Confess with Your Mouth

Many who visit this Daily Bible Verse site already have a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. But perhaps some do not.

What is this verse saying that should be confessed with the mouth? The Lord Jesus, or, that is to say, Jesus as Lord. Many believe this verse is referring to the confessing of sin, but it isn’t. Confession of sin has its place, but not here. It is referring to the confessing or professing of Jesus as one’s Lord.

Many have heard the gospel, or the good news of salvation through Jesus, that is, that He came from heaven, became a man, died to pay the price for sin, rose from the dead for our justification, and returned up into heaven, having made the way for men to be set free from the powers of sin and darkness, through faith in Him.

But this Scripture is where people stumble at the word of God. To receive what Jesus gave us through the work of the cross, requires us to believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, and to also confess Him as our Lord with our mouth. Believing alone is not enough.

The Lord Jesus

It means confessing Him as Lord to yourself, as well as letting others know you've made Him Lord. It means a change of lifestyle that actually makes Him Lord of your life, and a willingness to acknowledge to others why you’ve made that change. The Bible says that when you do that, then you will be saved. Only then will a supernatural change take place in your life.

Make Him Lord

If you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that God raised Him from the dead to set men free from sin, then receive that today by confessing Him as YOUR Lord, not just THE Lord. If you are not already saved, then confess, or, that is, say with your mouth that “I make Jesus the Lord of my life.” Begin to live a life that you believe is pleasing to Him, and be willing to share your faith with those around you.
