Resist Fear

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The Holy Spirit

The Spirit Whom God has given us is the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of power, or ability, and the Spirit of love; for God is love, and the Spirit Who gives us a sound mind, that is, a mind of moderation and self-control.

Paul, the Apostle, is telling Timothy, in this passage of Scripture, to stir up the gift of God that is within him, and to be bold in the gospel, unashamed, because God has not given us the spirit of fear.

David, in Psalm 23, says that he would fear no evil, even when walking through the valley of the shadow of death, for he knew that God was with him. Fear must be resisted by the believer. Fear does not come from God, but from the enemy, the author of fear.

Take a Stand Against Fear

Stand firm against fear today. Give it no place, but resist it, in the name of Jesus. Speak it out boldly. God has not given me the spirit of fear. I have the Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. And the peace of God rules my life. I will not fear.
