The Lord My Peace

Judges 6:23-24
And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Jehovah Shalom

Jehovah Shalom is yet another of the seven redemptive names of Jehovah. Translated, it means the LORD is our Peace. Peace is one of the privileges and benefits received through the redemption we have in Christ.

Peace I Leave With You

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

He is the Prince of Peace. We have peace with God through Him.

Isaiah tells us that the chastisement of our peace [or our Shalom] was upon Him. The Bible tells us that He made peace through the blood of His cross, and so forth. So, we have this peace through Calvary, where He purchased our redemption.

Peace Belongs to Us

We should all have the peace of God, and always walk in perfect peace, because He has revealed Himself to us as the LORD our Peace. It is Who the LORD is to us, in Christ.

The word “Shalom” also speaks of security, welfare, safety and prosperity, without which it would be impossible to have peace. So, it includes a lot of things, things that are ours in Christ, such as provision and blessing.

Paul said to make our requests known unto God with thanksgiving, and that the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds, through Christ Jesus.

Take hold of the peace of God today. It belongs to us. It is our inheritance in Christ. It is a benefit of our redemption. Lay claim to it, no matter what situation you may be in.
