The LORD Our Righteousness

Jeremiah 23:5-6
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The Names of Jehovah

Many names for Jehovah are given to us in the Old Covenant Scriptures. And at least seven of those names reveal to us the redemption that we have in Christ Jesus. They are referred to by Bible scholars as the seven redemptive names of Jehovah.

The word Jehovah is said to mean the self-existent One Who reveals Himself. God has been revealing Himself, His nature, Who He is, since the beginning of time. But the actual realization of the things revealed were not fulfilled until Christ and the finished work of Calvary.

The LORD Our Righteousness

We have the perfect example of this in the Scripture passage of Jeremiah 23:5-6, where the LORD is called Jehovah Tsidkenu, translated as THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Is Jesus our righteousness? Yes. Those who have received His salvation would agree with that. He is THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS to those who have received the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. So then, what has been revealed of Him is realized in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We are Made Righteous in Him

It is clear that this belongs to those who have been redeemed? It was spoken of in the Old Covenant. But it was fulfilled in Christ, through His redemption. It is His redemptive name, The LORD our Righteousness.

Declare your righteousness in Him today. We may not feel righteous, but what we feel has nothing to do with the fact that God has made Jesus to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. We are in Christ. And God's righteousness has been given to us. We are declared of Him to be righteous. He is THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
