The Word was Made Flesh

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

A New Relationship with Men

The birth of Christ marked the beginning of a new era of human history. The Son of God was now dwelling among men. The prophesied “Emmanuel” had come. There was, of course, much to be done before the work of Calvary would be completed, but the LORD had come into the earth, announced and celebrated by a dazzling angelic host.

The Light of the World

John, in chapter 1, refers to Christ as the Word made flesh, the Word Who had been from the beginning, the Word Who was with God and was Himself God. In this Word, the Scripture says, was life, and that life was the light that enlightens men’s hearts.

Grace and Truth

Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, the Bible says. Grace is God’s undeserved favor and kindness, as well as His divine ability to do and be something we could not do or be without His grace, while truth is the unveiling of the understanding of God’s eternal plan in Christ, which had been, according to Scripture, a mystery hidden from ages and generations, a mystery revealed as Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Worship from Afar

Moses had given the law known as the law of Moses, the list of do’s and don’ts associated with serving God under the Old Covenant. Yet under that Covenant men worshipped God from afar. They would worship by offering animal sacrifices that would temporarily cover or atone for their sins, which offerings could never deliver them from a guilty conscience. They could never draw near to God.

The Sin Offering

But in Christ a perfect “Lamb” was given, Who would become at Calvary the eternal sin offering, taking away the sins of all those who trust in Him. And He returned to heaven, and sent the Spirit of God to live within the hearts of those who follow Him.

Understand the reason for the season. God sent His Son into the world to pay the price for sin, and to deliver men from their condition of separation from Him, that God Himself might come and make His abode with men, and change their lives forever. Receive His unspeakable gift today.
