No Lack for Those Who Seek

Psalm 34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Psalm 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

The Theme of God’s Provision

There are numerous promises of God in the Scriptures. The number of themes or areas that these promises deal with is much smaller. One of the recurring themes in God’s promises is the theme of making provision for His people. God provides. He is Jehovah Jireh, the LORD Whose provision shall be seen.

The LORD Our Provider

This verse in Psalm 34 says to fear and give reverence to the LORD, for there is no lack or want or shortage for those who honor and revere Him. God is the God of abundant provision. The Bible says that He owns the cattle of a thousand hills. It says that the earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof, or, that is, everything that's in it. He is able to give to and provide for anyone He desires to. And it is His will to provide for His children.

No Lack

David, the writer of Psalm 34, says that even the strong young lions sometimes suffer lack and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good and pleasant thing. The word translated here as “seek” means to enquire after or resort to. Those who resort to God and enquire after Him for their provision shall not lack anything.

Seek First the Kingdom

Jesus taught on the subject of daily provision, and He said not to take anxious thought about what to eat, or what to drink, or what to wear, but rather to seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and that all these things shall be provided or supplied to you. In other words, if our priority is to seek His kingdom, then He will make sure our needs are met. That’s a mighty promise of God.

Take time to seek the LORD and His kingdom, and His right way of doing things today. The Bible promises that those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good and pleasant thing. Take time to enquire into His kingdom through meditation and thoughtful enquiry into His word, and He promises to make a way of provision for those who do so.
